Looking for a fun project that helps utilize some of those beautiful fall leaves blowing around your neighborhood? My son and I had fun collecting some of the most beautiful fall leaves we could find to put together in this easy to make beautiful fall leaf wreath. I love crafting with my little one so I will outline all of the tools you need and how to DIY this wreath so you can make one for your front door as well.

Things you will need:

• Aluminum floral wire
• wire snips or jewelry wire cutters
• scissors
• paper punch
• ribbon of your choice
• a small-medium bag full of fall leaves (you will use more than you think you will).

I purchased my craft supplies at our local JoAnn’s Craft Store.

First, you cut a piece of the aluminum wire (length depends on how large you want your wreath). After you cut the wire, you bend it into a circular hoop and bend each edge down into itself so it isn’t sharp.

Second, you stack the collected leaves in small piles of about 4-5 leaves thick and paper punch holes through their centers. You do this until you have enough leaves for your wreath. I then chose to cut off my leaf stems with scissors as well so the wreath had a more rounded look when it was finished. This is up to you.

Next, you take your paper punched leaves and push them onto your wire hoop. Continue to add leaves until you get up to the top on each side of your hoop. When you have the size wreath you prefer, take the two wire ends and hook them together and twist to fasten. This wire is super pliable and easy to manipulate into form. After you have completed your circle, add a bow with the ribbon of your choice to your wreath and voila! A fun fall project that is not only frugal but also great to get your littles outdoors to collect their favorite colored leaves. We chose to collect the leaves on a mild day and put the wreath together on a stormy one.
